Potty training

It has been a long time coming, but McKenna is almost potty trained....yay! I introduced her to the little potty a long time ago, but she didn't ever go in it, and didn't really show much interest other than that she just liked to sit on it while I went to the bathroom. I didn't know if I should start her because I thought she was ready but wasn't sure so I decided I would just hold off until she told me she needed to go or whatever.
My waiting paid off because a few weeks ago she told me she needed to go potty so I put her on the potty and she went. I was so excited so I cheered for her and gave her chocolate and made a potty chart where she could put a sticker everytime she went in the potty. She was really excited about this method, and actually kept it up. I kept in her diapers for a week to make sure she was ready, but she would always tell me when she went poopoo, but I would kind of have to monitor her going peepee. Once she got ten stickers on the potty chart, I took her to get a toy which she loved! I told her that if she kept going in the potty good she could wear big girl panties. She has gone on the potty lots of times now, so we decided she was ready for big girl panties.
We went to the store and she picked out some panties and I put her in them yesterday for the first day. She did really good, she only had two accidents, but absolutely loves her panties. She has gotten the hang of going poopoo in the toilet, but is still working on the whole wetness thing. I am sure she will catch on though, but until then there is a lot of wetness around here.
I never really knew what people meant when they said to wait until they are ready, but now I do, cause they really will tell you when it is time, and you will know.

I am going crazy, and McKenna is driving me there

sometime way too early in the morning for me to be coherent: (door to my bedroom flies open) "mommy"(crying) (McKenna stumbles over everything in my room to get to my side of the bed and throws her bunny, frog and two blankets on me and climbs onto the bed.) I lay her down in the middle of us and cover her up and try to go back to sleep. about 5 min later I have hands slapping me in the face and a hand turning my face to be right next to hers so I can feel her breathing on me. She falls asleep and I think "yes I can go to sleep now".....snoring begins and more hands hitting me in the face. I return McKenna to her bed and 10 min later the process starts over again so I lay there and drift in and out of sleep.
7am rolls around: "mom!" "watch a movie mom!" (Kenna slips off the bed and climbs up on the desk to get a movie.) meanwhile I groan and tell McKenna to come lay down for a few more minutes...."c'mon mom, watch princess kay?" (she comes and takes my fingers and pulls me out of bed.) Already I am starting the day off tired.
I lay on the couch with her thinking I can get a little sleep while she watches the movie, but 5 min later...."i hungy mom" I think I can just give her some cereal but no..."pancakes mom"
The rest of the day is me saying a lot of "stop that, get down, stay out of that, I told you not to play with that, do you want to go to timeout, 1..2..3...okay timeout! clean up your toys please, put that back, do you want to go in your room, please stop whining, why did you take your diaper off, don't throw things, don't say that word its not nice, stay by mommy please, don't jump on the couch, we dont play with the toilet paper, (at the store) sit down please... Kenna sit down please...if you dont stay sitting down you won't get a treat,Kenna you need to eat a few bites of this or (filled in with some type of threat such as you wont get a treat or watch a movie), don't throw food on the floor, leave your bib on please or you will get your clothes dirty, Mckenna that is not a toy...you get the point.
I try to get a little cleaning done among other things but McKenna says a lot of "play blocks mom, watch a movie mom, I hungy mom(about 20 times a day), stop it mom, i dont want mom, listen moosic, mommy, c'mon mom, play toys mom, color k, sutup mom (thanks all the children's movies that say that), park okay, sing song, chockit (chocolate)pease,no, mom!...mom!....mom!
I really cant do anything with out her getting into mischief so that is my day basically playing with her and following her around to keep her out of things. It is a wonder I actually get anything done. As soon as Travis is home I say I am done.
Two is definately a challenging age, but even though these things drive me crazy sometimes, I cant help but love them, laugh at them and think they are adorable!
She really is so sweet, it is just that by the end of the week I feel like I am going to lose my mind.

Halloween

I cant believe that this was the third halloween for McKenna, time just flies. This one was by far the best so far! She had so much fun this year.
McKenna was a witch, and I couldn't decide what Hat I liked best so I just put her in one for the church festival, and then the other one for trick or treating.
The Halloween festival at the church was fun, and Kenna got lots of prizes and loved playing the games.

Her favorite was the cake walk because of course she got a cupcake which she got to enjoy at home where she wouldn't make a mess.It was fun, but not a lot of people were there. I let her have a little taste of the cupcake before I realized it was a bad idea to let her eat it there.

We went up to Travis' sister's house in Heramen, Utah to go trick or treating with her family. McKenna loved being with her cousins.

McKenna was so excited for trick or treating she started running to the houses the moment we got outside. I had to keep reminding her to stay by mommy or she would have to ride in the stroller instead of walk.

She would run up to the door and try to grab handfuls of candy, I had to keep reminding her to only take one unless they said otherwise. She kept trying to take the candy out and eat it as she got it, but of course I told her she would have to wait till we got home.

She could have gone all night, but it was getting cold so we went back inside. She enjoyed looking at all her candy, but not as much as eating it.

We bobbed for apples which was pretty funny. McKenna stuck her face in there to get the apple or so I thought, but it turns out she was just drinking the water.
We had a lot of fun with them and we had a great Halloween!

what is happening with the harris's

It has been a while since I posted anything so I guess I will fill everyone in on what is going on with our family.
Travis is working a lot and applying to Law schools and other things so most of the time it is just me and Kenns. We have a lot of fun together though, and I love her little personality.
She is starting to sing songs all the time and actually knows all the words. When she goes down for an afternoon nap I always rock her in her chair and sing to her. Once day I was singing "what heaven sees in you" and she started singing the words to it before I got to them. It was the most adorable thing I have ever heard! Her favorite songs to sing are the ABC's and Itsy Bitsy Spider and Ring around the Rosies. She loves listening to music and dancing around the living room.
She recently has gotten on this kick where she says "love you so much" to everything. She was taking a bath the other day and when she was done we let the water out and she says "bye water, I love you so much!"
Everytime Daddy leaves for work she says "daddy kisses pease," and when she kisses you she grabs your face and gives you a nice big kiss. She always wants hugs and kisses, she is just so sweet!
As for me, I am just enjoying being around McKenna even when she gets into things and makes messes for me to clean up. She is into stuff more now then she ever has been, but I love her!
We are just waiting to see where we will end up for law school so besides that there is not much going on that is too exciting, but give me a couple months and I will hopefully have more exciting things to share with you all.

My leper child

We have been sick for like a week, so I havent been able to blog, but I am feeling better now so I thought I should get back on it.
When we got back from Arizona a couple weeks ago, McKenna got sick and developed a weird rash. At first we thought it was chicken pox, but the next morning it was really splotchy and all over her body. I took her to the doctors and she actually had hives. I have no idea what gave them to her, but she hasn't had them since.
I felt so bad for her because her face swelled up and she couldn't really see out of her eyes very well and she looked like a leper.
She is such a good sport though and didn't really complain while she was sick. We all had the swine flu this last week and she was just her normal happy self even though she had a fever of 101 for two days straight. She really is a trooper and such a happy child. We are so glad that we are past the sicknesses and hopefully we have had our share for a while.
Here are some pictures of her with her hives. She got to eat popsicles so maybe that is why she didnt complain. you can't really see it that well but it was pretty bad.

It's always fun when Grandma comes

Grandma Allen came down for a visit, and we did a lot of fun things. We went to Swiss days which was really fun. There is a whole bunch of booths and programs going, not to mention really good food. The only downside is that it was hot outside. Oh, and just so you all know, being a good samaritan does pay off. Travis helped this lady carry a really heavy box to her booth, and in return she gave him a huge bag of gumballs which were the best gumballs I have ever tasted!
We also went to Hogle Zoo which was so much fun! We went with grandma, Aunt Melanie and cousins Taylor, Alayna and Abby. McKenna loved all the animals, and was so good. I dont even think she cried at all, and she loved playing with her cousins.

It was a fun weekend and we are always glad when we can spend time with family!

Dress up

McKenna likes to play dress up, mostly with her daddy's things which is funny, but I guess it is because he leaves his things laying around.
Here she is with her daddy's hat

and shirt
and here she is with my shoes. She likes to walk around the house in them, and she can actually do it really well, she is a pro already.
This is what happens when she dresses herself

I don't have a pic of it, but she likes to put Travis socks on. It looks hilarious so I will have to take a pic of it and post it. She also puts his belt on like a necklace sometimes, or around her waist. She is so funny, I love how inquisitive she has become.

Mesa falls

We went down to Idaho one last time before my parents moved and we had never been to Mesa falls, so we decided to go. It was so beautiful, I was amazed that there was something like that in Idaho of all places.

The girls absolutely loved it. There was this little museum type thing there where you could feel different skins of animals. McKenna loved touching them all and feeling the textures of the fur, they kind of grossed me out so I just let her touch them.

All in all it was a fun day for everyone, and McKenna and I loved going on one last outing with our family in Idaho.

Sundance

My parents came down to Utah for the last time before they move to Nauvoo, and we went to Sundance and walked around there. It was so pretty!

We had fun walking around by the river and ponds. It was really hot, so McKenna would love to lean over and put her hands in the water since it was freezing.

It was a fun day with Grandma and Grandpa and Auntie.

We went to lunch before we went to Sundance and then later we went out for ice cream. We will really miss getting to spend so much time with grandma and grandpa and we will cherish all the moments we get to have with them.

Cram session

We have had a lot going on this month so there will be a lot of things which I will breifly describe so you all know what is going on with our little fam.

Well, the fourth of July was really fun, we went to the fourth of the July parade with Auntie Lindsay. McKenna loved all the floats and big balloons.

We also took McKenna to see Monsters vs. Aliens which she liked, but got a little restless towards the end. We went with Abbey, Trevor, Brandon and Lindsay and watched the stadium of fire fireworks which were pretty cool.

After that we lit off our own fireworks in our parking lot. McKenna loved doing the sparklers with our help of course not by herself. It was really fun though!

Abbey's wedding was following that on the 11th of July. Courtney and Lexi got to come down and stay with us, which I loved! My whole family was there so I had a blast seeing everyone and hanging out. It was a beautiful wedding and I am so happy for Abbey and Trevor.

We got family pictures while we were all together, I think they turned out pretty good.

McKenna and I went to Idaho for the last time after the wedding to hang out with the fam before everyone left to go back home and before my parents and sister move. It was really fun to be with all of them, but I am really sad that it is the last time I will ever go to their house again. At least I can still visit there since Court lives there still. McKenna had so much fun playing with all her cousins! They went swimming and we had Gwen's birthday party and they just played toys and loved every second of it. She will miss all her cousins, now she has no one to play with.

Last but not least, McKenna's turned two on the 19th. We had a small celebration for her since her birthday was on a Sunday. She opened presents, and Auntie Lindsay and Abbey and Uncle Trevor and Brandon came over to celebrate with us. We had cake and ice cream, and all enjoyed McKenna entertain us.

Travis and I took her the next day to build a bear and let her pick out her own stuffed animal, she chose a bunny, and she got to help stuff it and bathe it and giver her a name (Ellie) and make a birth cirtificate for it. She loved it, and she always plays with her now.

She also got a bike which she loves to sit on. She hasn't quite figured it out yet, but she is getting there.

She got cute clothes and books too, thank you everyone for the gifts, she loved everything! I just can't believe she is two already, time flies by so fast!

Well that was a lot of stuff crammed into one session, but I hope you all enjoyed it and I will try to keep it updated more often. We hope everyone's summer has been as fun as ours so far. Well that is it for now, we love you all!

Don't jinx yourself

So I just jinxed myself because I was saying the other day that I have never been in an accident or gotten pulled over. To my great surprise one of those happened today.
I was on my way to pick up Travis from work, and I was going down a pretty busy road. This dumb van pulls out to try to get into the turning lane, but there were so many cars that they could't get into it so they were sticking out in my lane. I just switched lanes so no one was in that lane and thought I was good. There was a street to the right of me where cars were turning or going straight, and just as I was coming up to and and about to pass it, I saw this car about to turn and it didn't look like it was going to stop. I was going to get into the other lane but that dumb van was there, so I just had to brace myself and take the hit.
The car didn't really even stop and just ran into the side of me. It completely popped the back tire and put two pretty big dents in the door of our van. I had to pull over on this busy street.
It wouldn't have been so bad, but I had no makeup on and was in just a tshirt and shorts, so I looked like trash and all these cars were going by staring at me, it was a little embarrasing. The guy who hit me was an old guy and his car was more damaged then mine, but it looked like it was my fault since the cars driving by couldn't see the side on my car that got hit, only the old man's, and I looked like I was like 17 or something.
I didn't know what to do, so I called Travis and he said he would be there as soon as he could. I got the guys information and everything, and thankfully he admitted he was at fault so I won't have any problems there.
We had a tow truck come get the van, and Lindsay and Brandon gave us a ride home thankfully, thanks guys!
It was kind of scary, but I am glad it wasn't worse than it was considering I had McKenna in the car with me. I am actually glad I had a van otherwise the damage would be a lot more than it was.
Two lessons I learned from this, first, never say never, and second, I am not going to go somewhere unless I look somewhat decent.

It is official

My parents and sister are officially moving to Nauvoo. My dad got offered the position of recorder at the Nauvoo temple and they will be moving after Abbey's wedding. I have mixed feelings about it though, so bare with me while I vent.
I will be so sad just because they are only four hours away and my mom and sister come down to Utah quite often so I get to see them a lot, not to mention I make many trips down there as well. It will be so hard to not have them so close anymore. It is like a two day drive to get to them now, and who has the time or money to do that? With Travis getting ready to go to law school, we sure don't.
I really wanted to go to Idaho for Christmas to spend it with my fam, but now we have to stay in Utah, and will probably be by ourselves for Christmas. I guess it won't be that bad, but it will be the first Christmas in four years that we haven't been with one of our families for Christmas.
It is exciting for them though because after all it is Nauvoo and there is so much history and things to see there, so we will just have to visit there in order to see everything. I went there a long time ago, but I have never seen the temple so that would be really neat.
I think it will be a good change for them, and they will be closer to my brother and his family. Even more of a reason to go and visit so we can see more than just my parents.
Well, anyway, I am glad they are the ones that have to deal with the himidity and the bugs, and not me.....not so much fun.

sooo big

McKenna is getting so big. Every week she seems so much smarter. We got her a toddler bed a little while ago and she absolutely loves it! When we set it up and put it in her room she wouldn't get off it. She was playing on it for like 3 hours straight. She sleeps in it so good, she doesn't ever get out of it, she just goes right to sleep when it's bed time. I took this video of her while she was in her room, I thought it was so cute and funny so I had to post it.She is so curious about everything and is always getting into stuff and asking what everything is. She loves to learn and read books and do anything outside. She doesn't like being inside all that much, who could blame her. Anyway, we lover her and just think she is the cutest thing ever. You can definately tell who is boss around the house because McKenna calls all the shots. When she doesn't want you to touch her she says "away" or "nnnnnnnnooope," as she points her finger at you. She will also look at you and say stop it, although mostly she says that to Travis and usually it is "stop it Travis". She is so polite as well, she always says excuse me when someone is in her way, although it sounds like Messme. She says please and thank you, and whenever we are about to eat something, she folds her arms and says "prayer?" Anyway, she is growing up so fast, we can't believe it, but we are enjoying every second of it.

Have you ever had someone have a vendeta against you and you have no idea why?

This could be all in my head, but you will have to let me know what you think. I swear that the new managers that took over for us in our apartment complex have it in for us for some reason.
There have been several things that have led me to this conclusion, so I will just start at the beginning. Hold on folks this is going to be a crazy story.
So when we found out the new managers were taking over for us, they had said that they sold their contract for their place starting May 1 because they wanted them to have a full month, which is cool I understand. We thought then we had until the first to be out, but I told them that we would probably be out the Wednesday before the 1st which was the 30th of April. I didnt say it was for sure (important fact for later), I just thought that is when we would have liked to be out of there.
Anyway, our new apartment is managed by the same company that owns the complex we were currently managing, and there was some stuff that needed to be done first before we could move in. They had to get new counter tops and new doors and a new fridge and stove.
Travis mainly had to do most of the work himself, but the counters were supposed to be done by someone else and the fridge and stove were ordered through the company as well. Come Saturday when we wanted to move into our new place, they didnt have the fridge in or the counter tops done so there was no running water. Naturally we couldnt move in because it wasnt done. The new managers were training that Monday with me and asked me when we thought we would be out and I said I wasnt sure but hopefully Wed but we were just waiting for them to get our apartment done.
When they had left, Travis told me that they werent going to be able to have the apartment done until Tuesday or Wednesday so I texted the new manager and told her I didnt think we would be out by Wednesday since they didnt have the apartment done.
The new managers go and call the owners and tell them that we arent going to be out by Wed and that they told the new people moving into their apartment that they could move in Wed morning...why, I dont know since they told us the contract didnt start until the 1st, and Wed was the 30th.
The owner calls Travis and was getting mad at him saying they needed to move in because they were going to be homeless since they had to be out Wed. and that Travis didnt need to have the stuff in the apartment done it was optional, therefore his fault if it wasnt done and that we could move in there. Travis tried to tell her that her brother was the one who wanted him to do the stuff and that we werent going to move into it without all that stuff being done because we would have lived somewhere else if they werent going to do it. We arent going to live in a crappy apartment, sorry.
Anyway, we had to be out Thursday (spent all night and all day packing). They showed up Thursday and we were just a couple of hours from being done and they were just coming into the house and leaving the door open so McKenna was trying to get out and I was trying to pack but had to keep running after her. I told them we would be done soon, but they just started unpakcking stuff and moving in. I was thinking cant you just wait my gosh. Anyway, long story short they were like kicking us out and moving in. The funny thing is that they told the owner they would be homeless but his parents live really close and they couldve stayed with them. I found out after though that her parents had come in the night before so I assumed that is why they wanted to move in asap so that her family could stay with them.
That is just the beginning. since then, they have been kind of rude to us for who knows why. We werent able to get all of our stuff out of the garage because they pratically kicked us out and we didn't have time to do it because of the whole mess. Anyway, we went to Hawaii the next day for a week, so as soon as we got back they were like you have to come get your stuff out today and blah blah blah. Travis had to go work all night to get all the stuff out, it was really sad.
Finally I thought I was rid of them and their rudeness, but my sister manages a complex with the same company that we did and they had a manager meeting where the new manager of thecompelex was there too. The owner's were saying that they had to have all maintenance done within 72 hours of someone submitting a request.
The new manager then has the audacity to say that Travis was really lax the last week and really didnt do anything so they were behind on maintenance because of him. Mind you, they have been the managers for a month already. Travis works his butt off and I was so shocked that she was blaming him for it. The cherry on top though is that her husband is supposed to do the maintenance and he was texting Travis all the time asking him how to do all this maintenance stuff because he did't know how to do it. That is probably why they were behind, but they just blame it on Travis, cool.
The last thing doesnt have to do with us directly but with my sister who lives in their complex. I assigned my sister a parking spot because we were the managers when she still lived there and so I wrote down her spot and everything on this excel sheet on the computer where all the names of the tenants are there who have parking spots and what number etc. I told the new manager about it in training and that she just needed to imput the new names that I wrote on a sheet to that spread sheet.
Someone had parked in my sisters spot and so she wrote them a note saying that it was her spot and that if they didn't move she would have them towed. They didnt move the next day so she called the towing company and they came. Come to find out, the new manager assigned this kid my sisters parking spot as well, so the towing company wasn't going to tow him because he went and talked to the managers and they had proof saying it was his spot or something.
My sister called the manager and told her that I assigned her that spot and that she has been parking there for a whole month. The manager said well the spread sheet that Erin did didnt transfer over, and my sister was like what does that mean, they got lost? She said yes and then said they only give spots to people in the condos not the apartments (she lives in the apt.) so sorry. The towing company tried then to go after my sister to make her pay for the tow since it wasnt her spot. The manager told the towing company that it wasnt her spot and that they could make her pay for it. It is 121 by the way.
The funny thing is that the manger called me the day after she took over and asked me where the spread sheet was cause she couldnt find it and so I told her where it was and then she said 'okay I found it, thanks," but she told my sister that it didn't transfer over which makes no sense. Also, if there are extra spots we can give them to people in the apartments, I did that the whole 2 years I was there.
I dont know about you, but any manager in a situation like that would not act like that, they would be proffesional and say it looks like there was a mix up since the sheet got lost and would have fixed the problem so no one had to pay, but was instead rude to my sister and practically blamed her for the situation.
There are other things dealing with my sister that I won't mention but I am like come on what is your deal?
K, so if I am just being paranoid, let me know, but I think they have something against us and I have no idea what we did. It makes me so frustrated! That is my sob story for the day.

strawberries and apple juice dont mix

So we were at church on Sunday and I dropped McKenna and Gwen (cousin who was in town)at nursery and then went to Sunday school which is down the hall from the nursery. I was sitting with my family in the back of the gymn. About 15 min into the lesson a guy pokes his head in the gymn and I thought he was looking at me motioning for me to come over but I wasnt sure because I didnt recognize him. Anyway, finally Travis saw that he had McKenna with him and went over there. I followed because I had the diaper bag and I figured she probably needed to be changed.
When I got there and outside, Travis had McKenna laying across his arms on her stomach, and her diaper was full and she smelled. I looked closer and realized that she had exploded and it had gone everywhere. It was running down her leg and up her back and on her dress. It was the most disgusting thing ever. I felt so bad because she was in nursery and that happened around all the kids and who knows where it got.....
We had kind of rinse her off really quick and then run her home where we threw her in the shower. She was covered head to toe in it, don't ask me how. I concluded that it was probably the strawberries and applejuice she had for breakfast. Never again! Whenever she drinks a lot of juice she has runny diapers, but I haven't experienced this for a while. I wish she was potty trained right about now.

My little fish

McKenna absolutely loves the water. We went to Scera pool in Orem which is this really fun water park that has a kids area as well as an adult area. We went on Memorial day with Brandon and Lindsay which was really fun.
We decided to get some floaties for her because she kind of likes to try and swim by herself and gets mad when I hold her, but the floaties weren't working so well. I was really mad because I thought they were supposed to work and I really wanted her to be able to float.
Anyway she still had fun but got really tired and cranky at the end. We went again yesterday with my mom and dad and Kenna's cousins Keara and Gwen, and Auntie Lindsay. This time was so much better than the other day. I got her different floaties and they actually worked. She can float and swim by herself for the most part. She is so funny, she just kicks her legs and kind of bobs around in the water. She is fearless. She will jump in the water to me from the ledge dunking her whole head in without a care. She will just start running into the water and plop right down in it or try to take off swimming without me right next to her which is actually kind of scary because she doesn't wait for me.
We took her down the big twirlie slide and she loved it! As soon as we got down it she would say "anain". When it was time to go she didnt want to leave, she wanted to stay and swim. I think she was born the wrong species because she loves the water more than the land.
I will be making plenty more trips to the water park this summer because we can't get enough of it. I won't be surprised if she develops fins in the process.

Catching up

So much has happend since my last blog so get ready for a jam packed update of what has been going on with the Harris family, and hopefully you don't get bored while reading this.
We are finally done with managing, yay! I seriously feel I have had the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders. No more rude, whiny and unitelligent tenants bugging me at all hours of the day. I must say though that is was a blessing while it lasted, I mean we didn't have to pay rent and I got to work at home so i guess I can't complain too much, however, putting up with all the stuff I had to I think I have a little bit of complaining rights huh?
I really like our new apartment, although it is smaller, it is nice and Travis put a lot of hard work into it so it makes it that much better. We really love our ward here even though it is small, and McKenna seems to be adjusting well even though she misses her freinds in our old ward. We went to a play group the other day and she just had so much fun playing with all the kids. She is the only girl out of like 5 boys, but she doesn't mind one bit.

Travis is the most wonderful husband, he does so much, he is like superman. I don't know how he finds so much time to do everything he does but somehow he completes twice the amount of things in a day that an average person would. He is amazing and I feel so blessed to be married to him. I am so proud of him considering how he just graduated from BYU...yay!
He is so happy to be done with school as am I. He graduated with a bachelors degree in Chinese and a minor in business. His chinese is amazing and he definately has a talent for understanding and speaking the language. His parents came down from Oregon for the graduation, and my family came up from Idaho and other places around Utah. We were so glad they came to show their support for Travis and are grateful they were here. We all went to crackerbarrel for brunch after since the graduation was at like 8 in the morning. It was fun to be with everyone though. It was a really crazy time with graduation and moving and all, but we survived. We are so grateful to our family for helping us move, it saved us a lot of stress and time.

It was a really good graduation ceremony. Elder Nelson spoke which was nice, but Elder Uchtdorf was there and it was such a good talk, I loved it. I am always so amazed at their abilities to speak in public and reach the audience on such a personal level. Travis parents took us out to a nice dinner after his commencement ceremony which was the night before the graduation. It was a fun weekend. McKenna loved playing with all her cousins. She really needs a permanant playmate. I guess we will have to start working on that.....and no we aren't making an announcement.:)

Travis is now working for a translation company where he translates documents from chinese into English. He has been working there for a while, but he got promoted to a manager over the chinese department and so we are excited for that. He loves his job, but is thinking next year he will go to law school. We are in for the long haul.
I am so proud of him and his accomplishments and I know I am just beginning to see the great things he will go on to do.
I am loving life just spending time with my family and having the freedom to do whatever I want when I want.
Travis surprised me the week after he graduated and said we were going to Hawaii, so we just back this week and finished setting up our apartment. Hawaii will be a whole different blog so prepare yourselves for that...lol.
Anyway, I can't wait for this summer because I am ready to not be tied down with anything and enjoy the many activities we have going on. Yay for warm weather! I can't wait to hang out with all my family in July when they come down for Abbey's wedding. It will be so much fun!
Anyway, I am glad I am all caught up in what has been going on with us lately. No we didn't fall off the face of the earth as some of you might think, we have just had a lot going on.

Quick update

I have been going crazy these last couple of weeks because of all the stuff I have had to do. I am doing checkouts this week and I am so stressed out. On top of that I need to clean my house and start packing to move and do all the closing stuff for YW since I am getting released on Sunday (I hope...they have been saying they would release me for like 3 weeks now). I am trying to play with McKenna as much as possible, but with all the stuff I have to do I feel bad that I don't get to spend as much time with her as I would like. She is probably thinking "I want my mommy back." If I am on edge to anyone who talks to me, forgive me because I just have a lot going on and am really stressed out, so don't take it personal.
Besides that though, everything is good. McKenna is so stinkin cute, I can't stand it. She does the funniest things now. Whenever I change her diaper and she is stinky, she crinkles up her nose and says "dew dinty" or translation "eew, stinky." She loves singing action songs, so whenever she wants to sing them like the itsy bitsy spider, she will put her fingers together and try to do the action of the spider and she says bitsy bitty bider." I also sing her this bunny song and she always puts her hand up to her eyes on the part where it says a "little old man by the window stood." It cracks me up to watch her.
She can pretty much see anyone's picture that she knows and be able to tell you who it is. She also tries to dress herself and it is hilarious because she puts her shirt on top of her head and her pants she only gets on half way and tries to button them herself.
She loves dancing, give her some music and she will start twirling or bouncing up and down. I want to put her in dance eventually.
Pretty much everything she sees like makeup or cute clothes or hair clips she calls pretties. She says "pretty, yeah?" whenever she wants me to put something on her like lip gloss or do her hair.
She has the highest metabolism I have ever seen in a toddler (everyone who is around her a lot knows what I mean) This kid seriously goes about 3 times or more in a day.
She will never sit still and is always getting into something, but we love her to death, and she is such a joy to be around. Her smile can light up the whole room.
We are just counting down the days until we are done managing (1 more week), and are getting ready to move into our new apartment. Travis graduates this Friday, so we are looking forward to having our family here for that.
Anyways, just thought I would share those things with you.

Easter Sunday

We had a nice relaxing Easter. McKenna still doesn't get the concept yet, she just sees easter eggs and is like more cause she knows there is candy in them. It was fun though. She looked so cute in her dress that grandma Allen gave her.

Easter Egg Hunt

So we went to an Easter Egg hunt at UVU. It said it started at 9 online so we get there around 9 and we come to find out it doesn't actually start until 10. There were some activities there though, so McKenna colored a picture, and took a picture with the easter bunny whom she was scared of, and we frosted cookies and ate them.
When the hunt actually began, they started the 0-1 year olds first, so I took McKenna to the back of the room and let her pick up eggs and put them in her basket. She was having a lot of fun.
It made me so mad because this lady had a boy who was maybe a year old and she had this big grocery sack and while I was helping McKenna get eggs there was one that she hadn't picked up yet and I told her to get the egg behind her, but low and behold this lady comes with her big sack full of eggs and swipes the egg. I was like I didn't know this was an easter egg hunt for adults. Seriously though, like a 1 year old would need that much candy, she just took it all for herself, I was mad because McKenna only had like 5 or 6 eggs, oh well though. People are so selfish sometimes. There were a lot of interesting and crazy people there.
We had a lot of fun with it though, and I am glad McKenna enjoyed herself.

Going crazy

So managing apartments definately has ups and downs, probably more downs at this point but who is complaining right....lol. Anyway, as many of you know we have been doing this for 2 years now and will be down in about 2 weeks....yay does not even describe my joy.
We have probably had every thing you can think of happen while we have managed here. I probably have several gray hairs now from all the stress that I have from this job. Just to let you know how crazy this place is, I will just name a few of the things that we have had to deal with. We had to evict a tenant who had overdosed on sleeping pills and a whole bunch of other prescribed medicine and had to go to the emergency room with them. We evicted a tenant for overdosing on Heroine in their bathroom, and a tenant had to break in because he was seizing on the floor, we've had a tenant who threatened to kill his roommate, and the worst one, having to call the police to come to my house because there was a guy who we evicted who wasn't happy about it and came to the office while I was home by myself and like 7 months prego, and he was really mad. He wanted me to give him his deposit back but he hadn't moved out his stuff yet or anything so I couldn't do it. Anyway, he would not leave and just kept harassing me about it, and I called Travis and he came and got him to leave, but he came back and wouldn't leave again, so I tried to call Travis again but he didn't answer, and so I didn't know what to do. I told him he needed to get out of my office please, but he wouldn't and so I told him that it was my house and that he needed to get out right now or I would call the police.
He still didn't leave and so I said I was calling the police. He was like good go ahead I wanted to call them because I wanted to report that you guys stole from me. I was like okay then go call them, and he started yelling at me to call them, so finally I did because I didn't want to deal with his crap and I was scared of him. I really thought he was going to hit me or something.
Travis had come home in the meantime before the police got here, and he tried to get him to leave, but he wouldn't. He tried to go back into our house, but Travis stood in front of him and he got up in Travis face so Travis pushed him away.
5 policemen finally came and they had tazors and everything out because this kid was being aggressive towards them too.
Anyway, that is just some of the stuff we have had to deal with, and this is all BYU approved housing...go figure! I have great stories if you want to hear more, I could go on and on.
So, that is my wonderful saga story and I am just going crazy from all the stuff I have to deal with.
There are so many things that go wrong at apartment complexes and we have probably had to deal with all of them. I really am surprised I am still in one piece and have some sanity left, well maybe I do, I am not sure anymore...
I am counting down the days and trying not to scream when I get calls from college kids parents about stuff that their kids are too chicken to talk to me about themselves, and dealing with people yelling at me and getting mad because they didn't get something fixed that they never submitted a request for in the first place, or telling me this is not fair and that they are reporting us to BYU housing. The list goes on and on, and so am I so I will end it here.
The point is, don't manage single students, they are such whiners, and don't know how to deal with situations in a reasonable manner.

Hot springs in Idaho

I went down to Idaho last weekend with McKenna to just hang out with the fam. We went to this swim place which was a natural hot spring. It was really fun!
I got her these floaties, but they did not work at all, so I tried a life jacket, but that was no good either. She just needs to learn how to swim so she can go off by herself, which I am sure she will do in no time.

McKenna is a fish, she loves the water! She kept trying to swim by herself and therefore swallow water, it was really funny but frustrating because she wouldn't let me help her, so I confined her to the stairs.
Keara is a little afraid of the water, but Gwennie like McKenna, love it! McKenna had fun playing with her cousins and auntie and grandma.
