My leper child

We have been sick for like a week, so I havent been able to blog, but I am feeling better now so I thought I should get back on it.
When we got back from Arizona a couple weeks ago, McKenna got sick and developed a weird rash. At first we thought it was chicken pox, but the next morning it was really splotchy and all over her body. I took her to the doctors and she actually had hives. I have no idea what gave them to her, but she hasn't had them since.
I felt so bad for her because her face swelled up and she couldn't really see out of her eyes very well and she looked like a leper.
She is such a good sport though and didn't really complain while she was sick. We all had the swine flu this last week and she was just her normal happy self even though she had a fever of 101 for two days straight. She really is a trooper and such a happy child. We are so glad that we are past the sicknesses and hopefully we have had our share for a while.
Here are some pictures of her with her hives. She got to eat popsicles so maybe that is why she didnt complain. you can't really see it that well but it was pretty bad.

It's always fun when Grandma comes

Grandma Allen came down for a visit, and we did a lot of fun things. We went to Swiss days which was really fun. There is a whole bunch of booths and programs going, not to mention really good food. The only downside is that it was hot outside. Oh, and just so you all know, being a good samaritan does pay off. Travis helped this lady carry a really heavy box to her booth, and in return she gave him a huge bag of gumballs which were the best gumballs I have ever tasted!
We also went to Hogle Zoo which was so much fun! We went with grandma, Aunt Melanie and cousins Taylor, Alayna and Abby. McKenna loved all the animals, and was so good. I dont even think she cried at all, and she loved playing with her cousins.

It was a fun weekend and we are always glad when we can spend time with family!

Dress up

McKenna likes to play dress up, mostly with her daddy's things which is funny, but I guess it is because he leaves his things laying around.
Here she is with her daddy's hat

and shirt
and here she is with my shoes. She likes to walk around the house in them, and she can actually do it really well, she is a pro already.
This is what happens when she dresses herself

I don't have a pic of it, but she likes to put Travis socks on. It looks hilarious so I will have to take a pic of it and post it. She also puts his belt on like a necklace sometimes, or around her waist. She is so funny, I love how inquisitive she has become.

Mesa falls

We went down to Idaho one last time before my parents moved and we had never been to Mesa falls, so we decided to go. It was so beautiful, I was amazed that there was something like that in Idaho of all places.

The girls absolutely loved it. There was this little museum type thing there where you could feel different skins of animals. McKenna loved touching them all and feeling the textures of the fur, they kind of grossed me out so I just let her touch them.

All in all it was a fun day for everyone, and McKenna and I loved going on one last outing with our family in Idaho.

Sundance

My parents came down to Utah for the last time before they move to Nauvoo, and we went to Sundance and walked around there. It was so pretty!

We had fun walking around by the river and ponds. It was really hot, so McKenna would love to lean over and put her hands in the water since it was freezing.

It was a fun day with Grandma and Grandpa and Auntie.

We went to lunch before we went to Sundance and then later we went out for ice cream. We will really miss getting to spend so much time with grandma and grandpa and we will cherish all the moments we get to have with them.

Cram session

We have had a lot going on this month so there will be a lot of things which I will breifly describe so you all know what is going on with our little fam.

Well, the fourth of July was really fun, we went to the fourth of the July parade with Auntie Lindsay. McKenna loved all the floats and big balloons.

We also took McKenna to see Monsters vs. Aliens which she liked, but got a little restless towards the end. We went with Abbey, Trevor, Brandon and Lindsay and watched the stadium of fire fireworks which were pretty cool.

After that we lit off our own fireworks in our parking lot. McKenna loved doing the sparklers with our help of course not by herself. It was really fun though!

Abbey's wedding was following that on the 11th of July. Courtney and Lexi got to come down and stay with us, which I loved! My whole family was there so I had a blast seeing everyone and hanging out. It was a beautiful wedding and I am so happy for Abbey and Trevor.

We got family pictures while we were all together, I think they turned out pretty good.

McKenna and I went to Idaho for the last time after the wedding to hang out with the fam before everyone left to go back home and before my parents and sister move. It was really fun to be with all of them, but I am really sad that it is the last time I will ever go to their house again. At least I can still visit there since Court lives there still. McKenna had so much fun playing with all her cousins! They went swimming and we had Gwen's birthday party and they just played toys and loved every second of it. She will miss all her cousins, now she has no one to play with.

Last but not least, McKenna's turned two on the 19th. We had a small celebration for her since her birthday was on a Sunday. She opened presents, and Auntie Lindsay and Abbey and Uncle Trevor and Brandon came over to celebrate with us. We had cake and ice cream, and all enjoyed McKenna entertain us.

Travis and I took her the next day to build a bear and let her pick out her own stuffed animal, she chose a bunny, and she got to help stuff it and bathe it and giver her a name (Ellie) and make a birth cirtificate for it. She loved it, and she always plays with her now.

She also got a bike which she loves to sit on. She hasn't quite figured it out yet, but she is getting there.

She got cute clothes and books too, thank you everyone for the gifts, she loved everything! I just can't believe she is two already, time flies by so fast!

Well that was a lot of stuff crammed into one session, but I hope you all enjoyed it and I will try to keep it updated more often. We hope everyone's summer has been as fun as ours so far. Well that is it for now, we love you all!

Don't jinx yourself

So I just jinxed myself because I was saying the other day that I have never been in an accident or gotten pulled over. To my great surprise one of those happened today.
I was on my way to pick up Travis from work, and I was going down a pretty busy road. This dumb van pulls out to try to get into the turning lane, but there were so many cars that they could't get into it so they were sticking out in my lane. I just switched lanes so no one was in that lane and thought I was good. There was a street to the right of me where cars were turning or going straight, and just as I was coming up to and and about to pass it, I saw this car about to turn and it didn't look like it was going to stop. I was going to get into the other lane but that dumb van was there, so I just had to brace myself and take the hit.
The car didn't really even stop and just ran into the side of me. It completely popped the back tire and put two pretty big dents in the door of our van. I had to pull over on this busy street.
It wouldn't have been so bad, but I had no makeup on and was in just a tshirt and shorts, so I looked like trash and all these cars were going by staring at me, it was a little embarrasing. The guy who hit me was an old guy and his car was more damaged then mine, but it looked like it was my fault since the cars driving by couldn't see the side on my car that got hit, only the old man's, and I looked like I was like 17 or something.
I didn't know what to do, so I called Travis and he said he would be there as soon as he could. I got the guys information and everything, and thankfully he admitted he was at fault so I won't have any problems there.
We had a tow truck come get the van, and Lindsay and Brandon gave us a ride home thankfully, thanks guys!
It was kind of scary, but I am glad it wasn't worse than it was considering I had McKenna in the car with me. I am actually glad I had a van otherwise the damage would be a lot more than it was.
Two lessons I learned from this, first, never say never, and second, I am not going to go somewhere unless I look somewhat decent.
